The JNCD test, also known as the Just Noticeable Color Difference test, was conducted on the iPhone 13 Pro Max screens, yielding a score of 0.5. The JNCD test is used to see whether the naked eye can tell the difference between two colors.
When gazing at the display with your naked eye, a score of less than one indicates that there is no discernible color difference.
The auto brightness option of the iPhone was activated, and a full-screen white picture was shown to test the display’s brightness levels.
The display’s peak brightness in both the sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts is 1050 nits, whereas with auto brightness switched off, the peak brightness is 846 nits.
These values apply when the display is seen from the front. The display brightness decreases when the screen is viewed at an angle. With a JNCD score of 3.1 for white shift, the brightness drops by 24% at a 30° angle.
Night Shift helps tint the display to a warmer tone at night to reduce eye strain, and True Tone matches the screen temperature to the ambient light temperature, as well as HDR10 and Dolby Vision compatibility.
