It can be thrown at an enemy for ranged damage or to interrupt their attack. It deals massive damage when you first pick it up, but its power falls off quickly as the game progresses. So you should try to throw this weapon at enemies if they don’t drop anything good like titanite. Also, I recommend carrying this sword around until you fight the first boss, the phantom. You can keep it afterwards if you like or throw it at another boss like taurus demon to see how much damage its range attack does.
